Uherské Hradiště opens new winter stadium with dual ice rinks
The city of Uherské Hradiště has officially opened its new winter stadium, marking the largest investment in the municipality's modern sports infrastructure. The project involved the demolition of a dilapidated facility from the 1970s and took exactly one year to construct following a 14-month preparation period.
The new facility features two ice surfaces designed for year-round use: a main rink measuring 26 by 60 meters and a smaller training rink measuring 26 by 14 meters. The stadium includes seating for 500 spectators, 16 changing rooms, a massage room, a warm-up area, and accommodation for approximately 80 people, which will facilitate summer camps and training intensives.
Financially, the project operates under a budget framework of nearly 447 million CZK. This includes 30 million CZK from the Zlín Region and an expected VAT refund of approximately 72 million CZK, leaving the city's direct impact at around 345 million CZK. The facility is equipped with a 99.84 kWp photovoltaic plant and uses an ammonia-based indirect cooling system. Management of the site has been transferred to the newly established municipal company, Správa sportovišť UH.
