Uhuru Kenyatta attends burial of Martha Karua’s father
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta attended the burial of Mwalimu Jackson Kamau, father of People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua, in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County.
The event served as a gathering for various opposition figures, including Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, Edwin Sifuna, James Orengo, and Justin Muturi. During the ceremony, Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina called for opposition leaders to unite and present a single candidate to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
Kenyatta prompted Maina to repeat her remarks, emphasizing her plea for politicians to set aside internal differences to ensure a unified political front. The gathering occurs amid ongoing tensions between the Kenya Kwanza administration and the retired president regarding his involvement with opposition formations.
