UIN Ar-Raniry students face academic challenges with AI and information seeking
Various academic studies conducted at UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh examine the evolving behaviors and challenges of students in the modern educational landscape.
Research into scientific information-seeking behaviors among students in the Faculty of Adab and Humanities shows that students utilize specific patterns such as chaining, browsing, differentiating, extracting, and verifying. However, some students struggle with effective browsing, leading to randomized search patterns.
In the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication, studies highlight the impact of Artificial Intelligence on academic integrity. Students reported using AI due to cognitive fatigue and tight deadlines, sometimes resulting in full copy-pasting, which creates cognitive dissonance regarding academic honesty.
Other research focuses on student life management and resource utilization. One study found that involvement in student organizations (ORMAWA) can actually improve GPA for most students, provided they manage time effectively. Additionally, assessments of the university library's e-resources aim to determine how effectively final-year students utilize electronic materials to support their thesis requirements.
