UIN Students Advance Sustainable Agriculture Projects in Indonesia

Students from Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga carried out a KKN (community service) program in Morokay, Maluku Tengah, introducing an integrated farming model that promotes zero‑waste practices. The initiative teaches locals to reuse papaya leaf waste as animal feed and to convert poultry and fish farm waste into organic fertilizer, aiming to improve household food security and soil health.

Meanwhile, a KKN team from UIN Walisongo Semarang installed a water‑pumping system in the village of Kumpulrejo, Kendal, Central Java. The pump draws water from the Bodri River to supply irrigation for rice fields that have suffered from water shortages during the dry season. The project, carried out with village officials and farmer groups, seeks to boost irrigation capacity, increase crop yields, and strengthen local agricultural resilience.
