Uisce Éireann to upgrade water mains in Letterkenny and Clonakilty
Uisce Éireann is launching two major water infrastructure projects in Ireland to strengthen local networks and support future development.
In Letterkenny, the utility will install approximately 1.4km of new water mains along the L1144 Lisnennan Road. Part of the Accelerated Growth Programme, this project aims to provide the capacity necessary for future housing, businesses, and community growth. Works are expected to conclude early next year, with temporary traffic lights in place during construction.
In Clonakilty, crews will replace 6.5km of old and damaged pipes in the Shannonvale area, covering routes including the R600, N71, L4032, and L4031. The upgrades are intended to reduce leaks and supply interruptions caused by aging infrastructure. This project, delivered by Ward and Burke, is scheduled for completion by May 2027. A temporary road closure is planned for the L4031 from late October through late November.
