UISE drivers undergo training to improve transport accessibility
Drivers from Ushuaia Integral Sociedad de Estado (UISE) participated in a training workshop focused on visual impairment to improve accessibility in public transportation. The session was organized at the invitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired Service of the Escuela Especial Nº 1 ‘Kayú Chénèn’.
The training included an experiential activity where drivers navigated streets and traveled on buses while blindfolded. This exercise was designed to help staff recognize the barriers faced by people with visual disabilities and to emphasize the importance of clear communication, orientation, and patient accompaniment during the journey.
José Labroca, president of UISE, participated in the workshop alongside local council members. He stated that the experience helped drivers recognize daily difficulties that often go unnoticed and reinforced the commitment to providing a service that ensures safety, autonomy, and respectful treatment for all passengers.
