UISE reports 3.5 million annual passengers for Ushuaia transport

Gustavo Cinti, Executive Director of Ushuaia Integral Sociedad del Estado (UISE), has presented a performance report for the public transportation system in Ushuaia. The state-run company currently manages five lines and more than 20 active units, recording over 3.5 million annual passengers and an average of 9,000 daily trips.

Cinti highlighted that the municipalization of the service in 2017, following a crisis under private management in 2016, allowed for significant expansion. The state-run model has extended coverage to 21 neighborhoods that previously lacked service, including sectors like Identidad Fueguina, Andorra, and Dos Banderas. As of January 2025, eight minibuses have been deployed to serve the Andorra and Dos Banderas areas.

The expanded network now provides direct connections to 79 educational institutions, 94% of local health centers, 85% of cultural spaces, and 81% of sports facilities. Cinti emphasized that the service is treated as an essential social service rather than a profit-driven business.
