Uiseong County provides safety education and communal harvest for dementia‑friendly village residents

Uiseong County in South Korea organized a series of daily‑life safety workshops for residents of its three dementia‑friendly villages from March 20‑24. Local fire, police and mental‑health agencies taught fire‑prevention, fire‑extinguisher use, CPR, voice‑phishing and smishing avoidance, heat‑illness care, suicide‑prevention and tuberculosis awareness. County mayor Choi Yu‑cheol said, “Creating a safe, healthy environment for all residents, not just those with dementia, is our priority, and we will keep collaborating with agencies to run such programs.”

On March 21 the county also held a community corn‑harvest event in Cheolpari village, bringing together villagers and the Saemaul‑Community. The harvest, cultivated since spring by dementia‑friendly village leaders, was presented as a symbol of shared care and understanding. Mayor Choi added, “The collective effort in this harvest spreads positive awareness of dementia and strengthens our community’s spirit of sharing and support.”
