Uiseong County Receives 100 Million Won Donation from Korean‑Japanese Business Leader Kim Geon‑chi

Kim Geon‑chi, a Korean‑Japanese entrepreneur and chairman of Inazawa Shōkai, donated a total of 100 million won to Uiseong County in South Korea. The gift consists of two equal parts: a 50 million won scholarship fund and a 50 million won neighbor‑aid fund, intended to support local talent development and assist residents in need.

The donation was made on 16 March during a visit with Uiseong County mayor Choi Yoo‑cheol, who took a commemorative photo with Kim. Kim, originally from Sanun‑ri, Geumseong‑myeon, previously contributed 10 million won to the county in 2008 and has a long history of promoting Korea‑Japan economic exchange and Korean diaspora community activities. The county’s talent‑development foundation will allocate the funds to scholarship programs and community assistance projects.

The contribution underscores ongoing ties between overseas Korean business leaders and their hometowns, highlighting philanthropy as a means of fostering regional development.
