Uiseong County to host drone and sports hybrid event

Uiseong County in Gyeongsangbuk-do will host the ‘Sky Defense Run in Uiseong’ from October 3 to 4 at Gubong Park. The event is a unique hybrid sports competition that integrates the drone and anti-drone industries with physical activities, held in conjunction with the Uiseong Superfood Garlic Festival.

The competition features a 5km run and a race consisting of 10 different types of obstacles. Participants will compete for a total prize pool of 20 million won. Beyond the physical races, the event will include various drone experience programs and a drone light show.

Uiseong County is currently working to establish a cluster for the drone and anti-drone industries, utilizing its existing infrastructure as a national anti-drone testbed. County Governor Choi Yu-cheol stated that the event aims to develop a regional sports brand that blends tourism, culture, and high-tech industry to discover new growth engines for the area.
