Uiseong County launches forest income subsidy and carbon‑neutral incentive programs

Uiseong County in North Gyeongsang Province announced that applications for its 2027 Forest Income Support program are open until August 14. The scheme will provide subsidies for soil amendment, organic fertilizer, production‑scale forest product complexes, packaging improvements and distribution infrastructure to forest owners and producer groups cultivating or processing forest goods such as mushrooms, wild herbs and medicinal plants.

From August 3 to 31 the county is also running a new Carbon‑Neutral Point (Energy) registration event. Residents and commercial users who join the program receive points based on reductions in electricity, water and gas use, which can be exchanged for cash incentives and free eco‑friendly household items. Both initiatives aim to boost incomes for forest‑dependent families and encourage energy‑saving behavior after recent large forest fires.

County mayor Choi Yoo‑cheol said the measures are intended to help forest owners recover their livelihoods and promote sustainable, low‑carbon practices in the community.
