Uiseong County's Danbuk-myeon launches night‑time rice pest control

In Danbuk‑myeon, a township of Uiseong County in South Korea, local authorities have organized a night‑time joint pesticide application to protect rice crops. The operation, covering about 593 ha and more than 360 farms, began on 24 July and will run for three nights, with a second round scheduled for 11‑15 August.

The initiative aims to offset labor shortages caused by an aging farming population and to pre‑empt outbreaks of rice diseases such as blast caused by recent extreme heat and heavy rain. Township head Jang Seung‑nam said the night‑time spraying is intended to maximise pesticide effectiveness while avoiding accidents and hopes for a bountiful harvest free of typhoons or other disasters.
