Ujjain dairy farmers plan protest over milk prices

Dairy farmers in the Mahidpur tehsil of Ujjain district have organized a protest to demand an increase in government milk prices. Following a meeting involving producers from the Nagda, Unhel, Mahidpur, Khachrod, and Makdon regions, farmers decided to surround the Ujjain Collectorate on September 10 at 12:00 PM to submit a memorandum to administrative officials.

Participants expressed significant dissatisfaction regarding the rising costs of animal husbandry. They noted that the prices of oil, animal feed, oilcake, medicines, and livestock have increased steadily. Currently, the government rate is set at 8.40 rupees per fat, but farmers are demanding an increase to 12 rupees per fat, arguing that the current rate makes it difficult to cover operational expenses.

Farmers have warned that if no concrete decision is made following the submission of their memorandum, they will escalate their movement in a phased manner.
