Ujjain police apprehend double murder suspects in short encounter

Ujjain police have apprehended two fugitives, Sonu Pasi and Vijay Suryavanshi, following a short encounter in the Korhan village area. The suspects, who were wanted for the July double murder of brothers Lokesh and Jitesh (Jay) Gorakar, reportedly attempted to flee from a police vehicle while being transported. In response, officers fired shots that struck the suspects in their legs.

The murders occurred on July 18 near a restaurant in the Nilganga area following a dispute between the Pasi and Gorakar families that began during the Holi festival. The violent confrontation involved firearms and weapons, resulting in the immediate death of Lokesh and the subsequent death of Jitesh during medical treatment.

Sonu Pasi is identified as a habitual offender with 14 criminal cases registered against him, including violations of the Arms Act and illegal liquor sales. The suspects are currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital and will be presented in court to seek remand.
