Ujsoły municipality disputes land use restrictions in court

The municipality of Ujsoły has filed a complaint with the Provincial Administrative Court in Warsaw following a dispute with environmental protection authorities regarding land use planning.

The conflict arose when the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection (RDOŚ) in Katowice contested the municipality's general plan. RDOŚ proposed significant reductions to areas designated for construction to protect natural habitats. While the municipality sought to limit the reduction to 100 hectares, RDOŚ requested a reduction of up to 300 hectares, representing approximately 46 percent of the building land currently identified in existing plans.

Mayor Tadeusz Piętka expressed concerns that restricting these areas would negatively impact residents. Furthermore, planners estimated that changing the designation of these plots could trigger compensation claims ranging from 251 million to 334 million PLN.
