UK academics elected as Fellows of the Academy of Social Sciences

Several academics from UK universities have been elected as Fellows of the Academy of Social Sciences in recognition of their contributions to research, policy, and practice.

From Northumbria University, Professor Elliott Johnson, a researcher specializing in disability, social security, and the social determinants of health, and Professor Nicola Wake, a law professor focusing on vulnerable individuals within the criminal justice system, have received the honor. Professor Johnson’s work has informed policy discussions regarding Basic Income and provided expert advice to the Government and the London Assembly.

Additionally, Professor Lucy Griffiths of Swansea University has been named a Fellow. As a Professor of Epidemiology and Co-Director of Administrative Data Research (ADR) Wales, her research utilizes longitudinal cohort studies and administrative data to examine how social and environmental factors influence the health and development of children and young people, particularly those in vulnerable populations.
