UK airport drop‑off fees rise to £10 for 10 minutes
Major UK airports have increased the charge for vehicle drop‑off zones. At Gatwick Airport drivers now pay £10 for the first 10 minutes, with an extra £1 per additional minute. Stansted Airport applies the same £10 fee but allows 15 minutes before extra charges. London City Airport introduced a fee of £8 for just five minutes, equivalent to £1.60 per minute.
The RAC motoring group’s analysis shows that 16 of the 20 busiest UK terminals have raised their prices since last summer. Fees at Edinburgh and Bristol airports have risen to £8.50, while Birmingham’s charge has also increased. The higher costs come as travel demand rebounds, with a record‑busy travel day expected on 1 August, despite higher jet‑fuel prices and concerns over flight cancellations.
