UK Allocates £251m to Protect Jews as Antisemitic Attacks Surge

A report by the J7 Large Communities Task Force Against Antisemitism warned that 2025 was the deadliest year for antisemitic attacks outside Israel, documenting more than 23,000 incidents across seven major diaspora countries and 20 murders, including a mass shooting at a Hanukkah festival in Australia. Germany recorded the highest incident rate, while Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States also saw sharp rises.

In response, the United Kingdom government announced a £251 million funding package for police forces to improve protection for Jewish communities. The allocation, highlighted by Housing, Communities and Local Government Secretary Angela Rayner, aims to shift from reactive to preventive security measures. Independent adviser Lord Mann called for a clear, calm strategy, and officials noted the growing role of artificial intelligence in online hate radicalisation. The UK will work with international partners through the J7 task force to strengthen global efforts against antisemitism.
