UK asylum seeker with alleged Hamas ties requests deportation
Mosab Abdulkarim Al-Gassas, also known as Abu Wadee, is an asylum seeker in the United Kingdom who is calling for his own deportation. Wadee, a 34-year-old Palestinian, arrived in Britain via a small boat in March 2025. He was previously convicted of illegal entry and sentenced to prison, but has since been released into asylum accommodation.
Reports indicate that Wadee has ties to a Hamas-affiliated faction and has previously posted videos calling for the death of Jewish people. In response to these allegations, Wadee claims he no longer supports Hamas, stating he only backed the group due to pressure in Gaza, and denies being antisemitic. He has released videos requesting immediate removal from the UK, citing intense media scrutiny.
British politicians have reacted strongly to the situation. Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp criticized the use of taxpayer funds to support an individual with alleged extremist ties, while Labour MP Lee Barron has urged the Home Office to pursue swift deportation. However, the Home Office currently lacks a safe route to return him to Gaza because the region remains an active war zone.
