UK-Azerbaijan parliamentary group seeks deeper strategic partnership
The UK Parliament’s All‑Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Azerbaijan has been re‑formed after the 2024 general election to engage newly elected British lawmakers and reinforce a friendship that spans more than a century. Chairman Bob Blackman said the group will expand parliamentary exchanges this autumn, inviting UK MPs to visit Azerbaijan and hosting Azerbaijani delegates in the UK.
While oil and gas supplies and the 3,500‑km pipeline remain the foundation of bilateral ties, the APPG highlighted growing cooperation in engineering projects, renewable energy, security and defence. Blackman urged greater British investment, noting Azerbaijan’s push for a freer enterprise zone and the potential for UK businesses to play a leading role.
The dialogue also touches on broader cultural and educational links, with both sides seeking to deepen trade, investment and academic exchanges as part of a strategic partnership that links the east and west.
