UK banks experience major payment outage affecting Barclays, Lloyds and others

On Monday 27 July 2026, customers of several major UK banks reported that payments and transfers were not appearing in their accounts. Down Detector recorded a sharp rise in complaints after noon, covering Barclays, Lloyds, Halifax, HSBC and other institutions.

Lloyds confirmed it was investigating an issue with the Faster Payments service, warning of possible delays and advising customers not to resend payments. Barclays issued a similar apology, and app‑based banks such as Monzo and Revolut also reported transfer problems, indicating a broader disruption to the UK payment infrastructure.
