UK faces third 2026 heatwave with temperatures forecast up to 35 °C

The Met Office has confirmed that the United Kingdom will experience its third heatwave of the year in early July 2026. Forecasts show temperatures reaching as high as 35 °C in parts of southern England, with 30 °C‑34 °C expected across much of the South East and Wales.

A yellow heat‑health alert has been issued by the UK Health Security Agency for the East Midlands, West Midlands, East of England, London, South East and South West, warning of increased risk to vulnerable people and higher demand on health and social‑care services.

Southern Water has introduced a hosepipe ban for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, exempting customers with medical or mobility needs. The UK government has also advised drivers to be cautious as road‑side heat‑related risks rise.

Public health guidance targets parents of infants, recommending limited sun exposure, lightweight clothing, hydration, and the use of appropriate sunscreen for babies over six months. The heatwave is expected to last longer than the record‑breaking spell in late June, though humidity will be lower.
