UK car models most at risk for undeclared modifications
Research from car marketplace Cazoo and insurance broker Tempcover has identified the vehicle models most likely to have undeclared modifications. A survey of 2,000 UK drivers revealed that 13% of motorists discover such modifications only after purchasing a used vehicle. Furthermore, 17% of those who failed to inform insurers believed that modifications made by previous owners did not require declaration.
Failure to disclose material vehicle changes can lead to serious consequences, including the cancellation of insurance coverage, fines, and penalty points. Experts warn that omitting these details can be classified as careless misrepresentation or, if deliberate, insurance fraud.
The top ten car models most at risk of having undeclared modifications include the Volkswagen Golf GTI/R, BMW 3 Series, BMW 1 Series, Audi A3/S3, Audi A4, Seat Leon FR/Cupra, Skoda Octavia vRS, Ford Fiesta ST, Ford Focus ST, and Range Rover/Range Rover Sport.
