UK Care Home Open Week Showcases Sector as Students Visit The Close
Care Home Open Week ran from 15 to 21 June 2026 across the United Kingdom, inviting the public to experience modern care homes. The event featured a World Cup‑inspired theme, highlighted innovation in social care, and attracted more than 5,500 participating services. It was supported by the Great British Care Cycle Relay, a five‑day cycling route (11‑15 June) that linked care homes in Manchester, London and surrounding areas.
During Carers Week, Health and Social Care and T Level Business students from Henley College visited The Close care home. They toured the facility, learned about the range of career pathways in health and social care, and were offered work‑experience placements. Cyclists from the care sector also joined a relay starting in Manchester to raise awareness of the industry’s contribution to society.
