UK Civil Aviation Authority reports rising airport satisfaction

The UK Civil Aviation Authority’s 2025 annual passenger survey indicates that satisfaction levels at England’s busiest airports have risen, despite an increase in total air travel. Based on interviews with approximately 175,000 departing passengers across eight major airports, the survey reported a satisfaction score of 8.39 out of 10, up from 8.36 in 2024.

Total passenger volume through the surveyed airports reached 225 million, representing a 2% increase from the previous year. The data also highlights a shift in how travelers reach terminals; public transport usage (including trains, buses, and the Tube/metro) rose to 38%, while private transport such as cars and taxis fell to 62%. London City Airport recorded the highest public transport usage at 66%, followed by Stansted at 48%.

In terms of travel purpose, leisure remains the primary driver for flying at 87%, while business travel holds steady at 13%. The survey noted that business travelers typically fall within the 35-54 age demographic, whereas leisure travelers represent a broader age range.
