UK community and railway groups reach major fundraising milestones

Various heritage and community organizations in the United Kingdom are reaching significant fundraising milestones for infrastructure improvements.

The Burnham and District Model Railway Club has donated £1,000 to the Burnham-On-Sea Community Centre’s accessibility lift fund. This contribution brings the total raised for the project to £50,000. The lift is intended to improve access across the centre’s three floors, and design plans have been submitted to the local council’s Building Control department for review.

Separately, the Severn Valley Railway Charitable Trust’s ‘Raise the Roof’ appeal has reached nearly £500,000. The funds are designated for the construction of a heritage Great Western Railway-style platform canopy at Kidderminster Town station. The railway has signed a construction contract with Walsh Construction, a Worcester-based civil engineering firm, with on-site work expected to begin in January 2027.
