UK Construction Week Birmingham unveils Innovation Showcase, pushes Construction Reset

Futurebuild 2026 attracted 20,784 attendees, highlighting strong demand for new products and breakthrough initiatives in the built environment. Building on that momentum, organisers will launch an Innovation Showcase at UK Construction Week Birmingham (29 September – 1 October) at the NEC. Martin Hurn, the newly appointed Editorial and Content Director for the co‑located shows, said the showcase will give visibility to proven, scalable solutions such as Madaster UK’s Vinted‑style materials marketplace, Madaster Match, which is expanding from Germany and the Netherlands into the UK.

The event will be framed around a "Construction Reset" theme centred on Building Better, Building Smarter and Building Responsibly. Political and industry leaders voiced support: Sir James Cleverly called for the removal of red‑tape and tax barriers; West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker announced a £75 million training package to equip 12,000 people with construction skills; Jason Howlett, CEO of the Energy Storage Association UK, urged that energy storage become standard in every future home; and David J Stevens of East London NHS Foundation Trust stressed the need to move beyond discussion to concrete action.
