Graeme Dott sentenced to seven years in prison for child sexual abuse

Former world snooker champion Graeme Dott has been sentenced to seven years in prison by the High Court in Edinburgh for the sexual abuse of two children in Scotland. The 49-year-old was convicted of lewd, indecent, and libidinous behavior involving a girl between 1993 and 1996, and a boy between 2006 and 2010.

During the sentencing, Judge Lord Harrower stated that Dott had “robbed the complainers of a significant part of their childhood” and characterized his actions as a “gross violation of trust.” The court also ordered Dott to be placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.

Dott, who won the World Snooker Championship in 2006, has faced immediate professional consequences. The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) has permanently revoked his membership, and his name has been removed from the World Snooker Hall of Fame. Dott had previously been suspended from professional activities in April 2025 following the initial charges.
