UK corporate governance and Frontier Developments market trends

In the UK, FTSE 100 CEO turnover has reached its lowest level in five years. According to data from AJ Bell, only 10 of the top 100 companies have appointed a new chief executive in the last 12 months, which is below the 26-year average of 13. Analysts suggest companies may be prioritizing leadership continuity to minimize risk.

Additionally, the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has issued guidance regarding the disclosure of intangible assets. The watchdog expressed concern that current accounting standards, established in 1998, may not adequately address value creation driven by modern technological advancements, such as artificial intelligence.

In the gaming sector, Frontier Developments has seen a significant market recovery. After a 93% share price collapse between 2021 and 2025 due to an unsuccessful expansion into unfamiliar genres, the company’s stock has surged approximately 200% since January 2025 following a strategic return to its core simulation game genres.
