UK councils approve major school building projects in Nottingham and Wales

Broxtowe Borough Council approved a £25 million expansion of Foxwood Academy, a special‑educational‑needs school west of Nottingham. The new X‑shaped building, called Foxwood 2, will double capacity to 150 pupils and separate primary and secondary provision on the former Bramcote Secondary School site.

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council submitted plans to demolish Ysgol Llanhari and construct a new all‑through Welsh‑medium school on Addison Avenue in Llanharry. The £‑cost project will accommodate 910 pupils (210 primary, 700 secondary, 100 sixth‑form) and include extensive sports, childcare and community facilities, with completion targeted for May 2030 under the Welsh Government’s Sustainable Communities for Learning programme.
