UK country parks fire warnings issued after multiple arson incidents

Local authorities in Wales and England have warned the public against lighting fires in country parks after a series of deliberate blazes. In North Wales, small fires were discovered at Bonc yr Hafod Country Park and Brynkinalt Park, damaging trees and threatening wildlife. Councillor David A. Bithell of Wrexham Council urged visitors to avoid campfires, disposable barbecues and to fully extinguish cigarettes, stressing that even a minor fire can spread quickly in dry conditions.

In Warwickshire, councillors reported 134 deliberately‑started fires in the first half of 2026, with some youths threatening residents with arson. Warwick District Council has erected warning signs, redeployed grass‑cutting teams to clear undergrowth, and asked the public to act as "eyes and ears" to report incidents. Both councils emphasize the risk to property, wildlife and emergency resources, and call for responsible behaviour in public green spaces.
