UK courts confiscate assets and hand suspended sentences to drug dealers
In England, two separate drug‑dealing cases resulted in court‑ordered financial penalties and custodial sentences.
Joshua Furmedge, 32, of Winsford was ordered to repay £88,230.43 under a Proceeds of Crime Act confiscation order after his cocaine‑related convictions, with Detective Inspector Helen Williams noting that “we’ve worked hard to put a stop to this and ensure he pays back all of the available assets.”
Aaron Swinhoe, 45, of Sunderland pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis with intent to supply. Police seized cannabis worth up to £19,000, cash, scales and a debt list. The magistrates court gave him an eight‑month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, and ordered the destruction of the seized drugs.
