UK courts hand down jail terms to drug dealers in Farnborough and Cardiff

A 26‑year‑old man, George Dempsey, was sentenced to six years' imprisonment after a police investigation uncovered a county‑lines operation supplying crack cocaine and heroin in Farnborough, Hampshire. Detectives traced marketing messages to Dempsey's phone and linked the operation to a wider network from London. Detective Constable Steve Duke said, “We are determined to keep relentlessly pursuing criminals to reduce the negative impact they have on the local community, making it safe for everyone.”

In a separate case, 29‑year‑old Tariq Francis was given a term of two years and nine months after being found with 12.968 g of crack cocaine and £930 in cash at a homeless shelter in Cardiff. Francis told the court he turned to dealing to pay off debts after becoming unemployed. He pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply, and the court noted there was no realistic prospect of rehabilitation.
