UK courts impose over 102 years of jail terms on regional criminals

Sixteen defendants from the Merseyside area were sentenced in the past week to a combined total of 102 years and 10 months in prison. The convictions covered a range of offences, including a murder at Cheshire Oaks, assaults on ex‑girlfriends, a drive‑by shooting that left a gun in a Sports Direct bag, and large‑scale drug trafficking involving more than 23,000 nitazene tablets and 122,000 bromazolam tablets destined for the United States. Sentences ranged from a 12‑month community order for a co‑defendant to more than 13 years for a gun‑related conspiracy.

In the North East, seven men received prison terms for violent attacks that involved biting and strangulation, one of which targeted a pregnant woman. The cases spanned locations from Gateshead and County Durham to Newcastle and Northumberland, providing reassurance to victims and the wider community that the perpetrators have been dealt with by the courts.
