UK drivers express anxiety over car repair costs and trust
Research conducted by OnePoll for Warrantywise indicates that 68% of UK drivers feel anxious about taking their vehicles to a garage, with 31% reporting they feel this way often.
Key drivers of this anxiety include uncertainty regarding repair costs and transparency. Approximately 80% of motorists worry about unforeseen repair expenses, while 49% express concern about being overcharged. Additionally, 36% of drivers report having insufficient technical knowledge about cars to feel confident during repair discussions, and 26% report a lack of trust in mechanics.
Antony Diggins, managing director at Warrantywise, noted that these concerns present a commercial opportunity for car dealers to build stronger relationships through transparent communication and aftersales support. The study also found that 72% of drivers believe having a warranty included would increase their confidence when purchasing a used vehicle.
