UK DWP announces early benefit and pension payments for August bank holiday

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed that millions of benefit and pension payments will be made earlier than scheduled due to the August bank holiday. Payments originally due on Monday, 31 August, will instead be issued on Friday, 28 August.

The adjustment applies across the United Kingdom and includes several major support programs, such as Universal Credit, State Pension, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Carer’s Allowance, and Attendance Allowance. Other affected payments include Income Support, Jobseeker’s Allowance, and Pension Credit.

Recipients do not need to take any action, as the early payments will occur automatically. The DWP stated the change is intended to prevent financial disruption over the holiday weekend. Officials noted that because payments are arriving early, recipients will need to budget accordingly until their next scheduled payment in September.
