UK Boosts Electric Car Grant to Cover BMW iX1, iX2 and Hyundai Kona

The UK Government’s Electric Car Grant, backed by nearly £2 billion, offers a £1,500 or £3,750 discount on new zero‑emission vehicles priced under £37,000. BMW has confirmed that its iX1 and iX2 models now qualify for the maximum £3,750 band, with prices set at £33,315.

Hyundai’s Kona Electric has been upgraded from the £1,500 Band 2 level to the £3,750 Band 1 tier, reducing its entry price from £35,000 to £31,250. The move follows a review of the vehicle’s supply‑chain emissions and its compliance with the Science‑Based Targets initiative. Both manufacturers highlighted the grant’s role in making premium electric mobility more affordable for UK customers.
