UK employee theft cases lead to suspended sentence and prison term

A former employee of the Aerolite Garage in Watton, Norfolk, 32‑year‑old Hannah Brand stole up to £21,000 over two years while working as an assistant. She pleaded guilty to theft by an employee at Norwich Magistrates Court and received a 12‑month prison term suspended for 18 months, together with 100 hours of unpaid work and rehabilitation, citing her previous good character and personal circumstances.

In a separate case, 47‑year‑old Donna Pope of Ormskirk abused her position by using her company’s credit card to divert about £50,000 for personal holidays, clothing purchases and other expenses. She pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of position at Preston Crown Court and was sentenced to 38 months in prison.
