UK energy bills expected to rise as Ofgem price cap increases
UK households face rising energy costs following Ofgem’s announcement that the price cap will increase by 4% starting in October. To mitigate these expenses, property experts suggest adjusting specific boiler and heating settings.
One identified drain is the ‘preheat’, ‘comfort’, or ‘warm start’ mode on combi boilers, which keeps water hot for convenience but consumes gas continuously. Switching to an ‘eco’ setting can reduce usage. Additionally, lowering the boiler’s flow temperature from 70°C or 80°C to approximately 60°C can improve efficiency, though it may result in rooms warming up more slowly.
