UK and Ireland issue multiple food recalls and record salmonella cases

The Food Standards Agency has issued a series of “do not eat” alerts for products sold in UK supermarkets. Tesco, Waitrose and Morrisons are recalling items such as Morrisons Savers salted cashews that may contain glass, Filippo Berio hot chilli pesto with an undeclared fish ingredient, Gü Double Sea Salted Caramel frozen dessert that may contain hazelnuts or soya, and Arran Fine Foods caramelised red‑onion chutney that could contain metal fragments. Customers are advised to return the affected products for a full refund without needing a receipt.

In Ireland, Asian‑market products distributed by Rongs Wholesale Ltd. were recalled after tests revealed undeclared allergens—including gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, peanuts, soy, milk and several others—in drinks, seasonings and mochi sold across the country.

Separately, England’s health authorities reported the highest number of salmonella infections in a decade, with 10,406 cases in 2025, and continued high levels of campylobacter. Officials urged the public to follow food‑hygiene practices and to avoid preparing food while ill.

All alerts advise consumers not to eat the products and to return them to the point of sale for a refund.
