UK-funded PLANE programme concludes in northern Nigeria

The Partnership for Learning for All in Nigeria (PLANE) programme has officially concluded, marking the end of its three strategic windows. Funded by the United Kingdom and implemented by partners including DAI, UNICEF, and Save the Children, the initiative focused on improving learning outcomes and strengthening education systems across northern Nigeria.

The programme reached over 2 million children and provided training for more than 25,000 teachers and facilitators. Key interventions included improvements in foundational literacy and numeracy, the strengthening of safeguarding systems to enhance school safety, and the development of education policies and data management.

During a close-out event in Kaduna, British High Commissioner to Nigeria Pete Vowles emphasized that while the PLANE programme is ending, the United Kingdom remains committed to supporting education and human capital development in Nigeria. The initiative involved collaboration with the federal government and five northern states: Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, Borno, and Yobe.
