UK Gambling Commission mandates new online casino deposit limits
The UK Gambling Commission is implementing new technical standards for online casinos to enhance responsible gambling tools. Starting September 30, 2026, licensed operators must provide clear and visible deposit limits that allow users to restrict the gross amount of money entering their accounts over specific periods, such as 24 hours, seven days, or one month.
Once a defined limit is reached, systems must prevent further deposits until the next period begins or the user requests an increase, subject to mandatory waiting periods. To prevent consumer confusion, the term ‘deposit limit’ will be strictly reserved for tools that restrict gross deposits.
Operators may also offer additional controls, including betting limits, loss limits, and net deposit limits. The regulations aim to integrate these financial management tools directly into the user experience and registration process, rather than leaving them as secondary information on separate pages.
