UK health campaign offers free blood pressure checks

Various health initiatives across England are offering free blood pressure checks as part of the national ‘Know Your Numbers Week’ campaign. The initiative aims to raise awareness of hypertension, a condition that often presents no obvious symptoms but serves as a major risk factor for strokes, heart attacks, and kidney disease.

In Huntingdon, Priory Fields Surgery is hosting a drop-in session on September 8 to help residents identify potentially dangerous high blood pressure levels. Medical professionals note that an estimated 5.5 million people in England are living with undiagnosed high blood pressure.

Similarly, Three Rivers District Council is deploying ‘Healthy Hubs’ to community venues throughout the district. These hubs will provide free checks and health advice at locations including Chorleywood Library, Abbots Langley, and Croxley Library between September 7 and September 15. These sessions also offer support regarding the cost of living and local wellbeing services.
