UK heritage railways announce festive Christmas programs
British heritage railways are announcing seasonal programming for the upcoming Christmas period.
The Great Central Railway (GCR) will host its Santa Express from 28 November to 24 December. The experience includes steam train journeys where children can meet Santa, Mrs Claus, and elves, receiving activity packs and gifts. GCR is also offering various festive dining options, such as Afternoon Tea, Christmas Midlander lunches, and a Christmas Murder Mystery event on selected Friday evenings.
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) has scheduled several festive services. The Santa Express will run on specific dates throughout November and December, featuring a new character named Gingersnap. Additionally, the North Yorkshire Pullman Christmas will offer dining experiences between Pickering and Goathland from 24 November to 3 January. A new Festive Fish & Chips service is also being introduced for select dates in late 2026 and early 2027.
