UK holidaymakers struggle with financial anxiety during breaks
Research commissioned by the app thinkmoney indicates that financial anxiety significantly impacts holidaymakers in the UK. Only 27% of travelers experiencing money worries are able to switch off immediately, and that figure rises to 38% by the end of the first day. It generally takes three days for the majority of these individuals to leave their financial concerns behind.
Regional data shows that 66% of financially concerned holidaymakers from the West Midlands struggle to shake off their worries after the first day, followed closely by those from the East Midlands and London at 65%. Conversely, travelers from Wales were more likely to set aside money worries by the end of their first day.
Approximately 42% of holidaymakers report that they either spend most of their trip trying to disconnect or never fully manage to do so. In Scotland, nearly half of those with financial concerns struggle to fully switch off during their break.
