UK home décor shift: consumers prioritize personality and moody minimalism
Primark has launched a new home collection that emphasizes the "moody minimalism" trend – dark wood, black finishes and subtle gold accents – offering pieces such as a bobble‑arch mirror and a scalloped glass tray at low price points. The range is presented as a way to add quiet luxury while keeping décor simple.
At the same time, new research from Shark shows that 62% of British adults consider it important for their homes to reflect their personality, though 63% say they still play it safe. About half of respondents want to be more expressive, while concerns about costly design mistakes hold many back. The study also highlights a growing expectation that everyday appliances, such as vacuums, should complement interior aesthetics. Shark’s VP of marketing, Carolyn Anderson, noted the launch of the PowerDetect Speed Luxe Collection, which pairs high‑performance cleaning technology with finishes in muted neutrals designed for modern interiors.
