UK Home Office issued over 1,000 hijabs to channel migrants

Internal government figures reveal that the UK Home Office has provided more than 1,000 free hijabs to migrants arriving via small boats this year. Data shows that officials have issued Muslim head coverings at an average rate of approximately 162 per month to individuals crossing the English Channel.

The Conservative Party has criticized the policy, describing it as ‘an insult to hard-working British taxpayers’ and calling for an immediate end to the distribution. In response, the Home Office stated that it has a legal obligation to provide such items.

The disclosure has intensified political debate regarding Muslim headwear. Shadow Education Secretary Laura Trott expressed opposition to hijabs being included in school uniforms, stating, ‘I do not believe the state should be party to an instrument of female suppression.’
