UK increases financial requirements for international students
The UK Home Office is implementing new financial maintenance requirements for international students applying under the student visa route, effective 30 November. Under these rules, overseas students must demonstrate they possess higher levels of funds to cover monthly living costs during their studies.
For students studying in London, the monthly requirement will rise from £1,529 to £1,570. For a nine-month course, the maximum required amount will increase from £13,761 to £14,130. Students studying outside of London will see their monthly requirement increase from £1,171 to £1,203, raising the nine-month maximum from £10,539 to £10,827.
These maintenance funds must be held separately from course tuition fees. Additionally, students must account for the student visa application fee and the Immigration Health Surcharge as distinct costs.
