UK initiatives expand support for domestic abuse survivors

Various initiatives in the United Kingdom are expanding access to support for domestic abuse survivors. Grampian Women’s Aid has received a £10,000 grant from Mackie’s of Scotland to maintain a multipurpose space for confidential one-to-one meetings and to develop group sessions for young people focused on preventing misogyny and abusive behavior. This funding comes as the charity reports a 13% increase in service demand over the last year.

In the financial sector, Nationwide Building Society has launched an online ‘safe space’ tool designed to help survivors discreetly access emergency contacts and support resources. The tool features a quick exit function and does not leave a browsing history. This digital initiative complements existing physical safe spaces in Nationwide and Virgin Money branches and aims to assist those facing both domestic and economic abuse.
