UK launches summer family trail attractions in South Yorkshire and along the Thames

The Tropical Butterfly House Wildlife Conservation Park in South Yorkshire has opened a ‘Tropical Treasures’ trail for the school holidays, running from 18 July to 31 August 2026. Visitors can collect stamps, explore rainforest-themed clues, watch free‑flying bird shows and enjoy additional activities such as a Dino Dig, play‑park and cafe facilities. The event is part of the UK Government’s Great British Summer Savings Scheme, offering reduced admission rates.

Meanwhile, Thames Hospice has installed more than 90 decorated elephant sculptures across the River Thames corridor, linking Slough and Windsor. Named “Trunks across the Thames”, the free art trail opened on 13 July 2026 and will remain for nine weeks. The display includes large sculptures, mini‑elephants created by local schools, and pieces sponsored by groups such as the Welsh Guards. Organisers say the trail aims to raise awareness of hospice care while providing a colourful outdoor experience for families.
